Eligibility Requirements
Applicants & Grantees
The WCCN has the following requirements for all applicants interested in joining the grant program. These are established to assure compliance with Washington generally acceptable accounting principles and vendor requirements.
1. Must be an eligible organization or host site:
- Nonprofit organization
- Academic Institution (K-12, Collegiate, Technical, etc.)
- Special Purpose District
- Local Government Agencies (County, Municipality)
- Tribe or tribal organization
- Fiscally sponsored organization
2. Must prioritize service by and for overburdened communities, though applications may request support for projects or sites of varied overburdened community ranking.
- WCCN values equity in every aspect of our work. This is represented in the service and funding we provide.
- WCCN encourages applicants to develop projects that are culturally responsive and partner with the communities served to implement a project.
3. Must submit as part of their application budget the determination of the area as overburdened using the Overburdened Communities of Washington State map.
- The mapping tool identifies geographic areas considered as “overburdened communities.”
Note on the mapping tool
The mapping tool is a composite of map layers depicting census tracts ranked 9 or 10 on the Environmental Health Disparities map, areas characterized as “disadvantaged” on the federal Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool (CEJST), and census tracts that are fully or partially on “Indian Country” as defined in 18 U.S.C. Sec. 11514. For more information, see Indian Affairs (IA) MMU’s Service Area and Jurisdiction.
Architects (Service Project Participants)
All participants receiving a stipend or any form of support from the WCCN to implement a service project shall be uniquely known as Architects in all WCCN grant, contract, and communications.
Investments and Corps programs across the state often refer to these individuals as service members.
